- Will merging break a signed PDF?
- Yes, and this is true of every merge tool. A digital signature attests to the exact bytes of the document it was applied to; combining it with other pages changes those bytes and the signature no longer validates. Always merge first and collect signatures on the final assembled document.
- Does merging reduce quality or make the file huge?
- Quality is unchanged, because pages are copied rather than re-encoded. The merged file is roughly the sum of the inputs. If the result is uncomfortably large it is almost always because one of the sources contains high-resolution scans — compressing those images before merging is more effective than compressing the merged file afterwards.
- Is there a limit on how many files I can merge?
- There is no imposed limit and no account gate. The practical ceiling is your device memory, since every file has to be held in the tab at once. Merging a dozen ordinary documents is unremarkable; merging fifty large scans may be slow on a phone.
